Week of 10/7/13-10/11/13 (1st Quarter -Week 9)

6th Graders,

Last week was a strange week because you had two days that were taken by an assembly so the schedule was all messed up.  The next week is going to be a good one.  We start jump rope in the gym.  Read below to see what you need to do to prepare for this unit.

WEEKEND PUSH-UP CHALLENGE
How many of you completed 25 or more push-ups to match your weekly total?  If you haven't yet, get down and do them.  Don't cheat your body.

WEATHER
Strange, looks like it is going to be beautiful weather except for some rain that might sneak in on Wednesday.  Be prepared.  Please check weekly weather HERE

WHAT UNIT ARE WE IN?
We start Jump Rope on Monday.  It is very important that you complete HW #8 which is to watch the Jump Rope Screencast and fill out the Jump Rope Note Taking sheet.  This assignment will get you ready for the unit and prepare you for all that you need to know.  Also, if you buy a jump rope, you will receive extra credit.  Click HERE to see a pic of my favorite Jump Rope, and it is under $8.  You can get this rope at Sports Basement.  I recommend that you go there b/c I believe you will get 10% off and they donate money to schools.

WHAT IS OUR RUN THIS WEEK?
We are either going to do the Partner Pacer or the Variety Run.  If you want to know what the Partner Pacer and other runs are that we do in class, click HERE.

WHAT FITNESS ACTIVITY ARE WE DOING THIS WEEK?
Fitness this week will probably focus on Jump Roping.  The 2 weeks after that, I am planning on setting up a circuit in the gym that will incorporate Jump Roping.   

IS HOMEWORK ASSIGNED THIS WEEK?
No, I am not going to assign anything.  However, HW #8 is due tomorrow, Monday.  Please make sure that you get it done.  

ARE THERE ANY ASSIGNMENTS DUE THIS WEEK
No, nothing is due this week.

Extra Credit:  There is a Fit In 15 Extra Credit Assignment posted on the Extra Credit page under "Little" Assignments.  Click HERE to check out the assignment.  Fill out this sheet and you will get extra credit.  Make sure that you have this sheet with you while you are doing the Fit In 15 workout b/c you have to keep track of your reps.
