Week of 4/29/13 - 45/3/13 (4th Quarter -Week 4)


6th Graders,

You did a great job last week with the week long mini-Pedometer Unit.  I hope that you better understand how a Pedometer is a useful device in motivating you to move more throughout the day.  You can purchase a pedometer at any kind of fitness store like Sports Authority, Sports Basement or a place like Target, Walmart, etc.

WHAT UNIT ARE WE IN?
We will start our Tumbling Unit this week.  What is Tumbling?  Why do we do it in PE?  What skills will I learn?  How will I be assessed?  You can find most of the answers to these questions HERE on the Unit Page.  There are still some of the details being worked out on how the unit will be laid out, but, for the most part, this page will give you a good idea on what you will need to learn.

WHAT IS OUR RUN THIS WEEK?
You will have the Mile Run on the Block Period this week.      

WHAT FITNESS ACTIVITY ARE WE DOING THIS WEEK?
Not sure if there will be a fitness day this week.

IS HOMEWORK ASSIGNED THIS WEEK?
Yes, Segment #2 is due on Wed/Thurs Block Period.  Please bring it to class on time at Roll Call.  What do you need to do for Segment #2, click HERE to check out the EYO Page to get your assignment done.

ARE THERE ANY ASSIGNMENTS DUE THIS WEEK
Yes, your EYO Segment #2 is due on Wed/Thurs (5/1 and 5/2).  Bring it to Roll Call with your RUBRIC and VIDEO SEGMENT TEMPLATE in your Booklet.     

EXTRA CREDIT ASSIGNMENTS
For any extra credit assignments that you would like to do, please go to the extra credit page.  There are little, medium and large assignments that you can choose from.

FIT IN 15 HOME WORKOUT VIDEO SERIES
I just started producing new workout videos called, "Fit In 15" which are 15 minute bodyweight, home workout videos.  I am excited b/c these videos will have creative exercises and the workouts don't take very long.  Please subscribe to my YouTube channel and look for the newest Fit In 15 videos to be posted.  To see the latest Fit In 15, watch the video below.

Extra Credit:  Do one of these Fit in 15 workouts.  While you are working out, keep track of the # of reps you do for each of the exercises.  Afterwards, do a one page write up explaining the following:
What were the names of the exercises?
How many reps did you do each round for the exercises?
What Level did you choose (1, 2 or 3)?
Where did you do the workout?  Living room, bedroom, garage, park, etc.?
Short paragraph explaining how the workout was for you?  difficulty, hardest exercise, easiest exercise, if you modified and why, etc.?
