Week of 10/29/12-11/2/12 (2nd Quarter -Week 2)

6th Graders,

I hope that you are outside being active taking advantage of this beautiful weekend.  We couldn't ask for better weekend weather in October.

WEATHER

Looking like a rainy week, dress appropriately.  Remember, you can wear sweats of any color to replace your PE shorts, but, the sweats can not be your clothes for the day.  Please check the weekly weather HERE.  Please dress accordingly.

GRADES

All grades have been finalized.  I just need to go in and add comments.  Congrats to those of you that did well.  I am going to work on grading your WOW paragraphs this week.  They will be added to your 2nd quarter grade.  Your Tinikling Performance will also be added to 2nd quarter grades.  I will add those as soon as you complete your Tinikling assigment for Friday.

WHAT UNIT ARE WE IN?

We are in week 2 of Line Dance.  On Tuesday, you will be learning your 1st of 6 official Line Dances, the Electric Slide.  I believe that this week you will be learning Electric Slide, Men In Black (my personal favorite) and Boot Scottin' Boogie (my second favorite).  These are the dances that you need to be practicing at home and perfecting.  Please get a head start and practice.  Click HERE to go to the Line Dance page.

WHAT IS OUR RUN THIS WEEK?

I am not sure what the Run and Fitness Day plan is this week. Since we are missing Monday, our schedule is a bit off.  You will get plenty of warning if we do a specific run/fitness day this week. 

WHAT FITNESS ACTIVITY ARE WE DOING THIS WEEK?

I am not sure if there will be a fitness activity this week or not.

IS HOMEWORK ASSIGNED THIS WEEK?

Yes, you have one of your longest Homework assignments of the year.  It is your Tinikling Reflection Assignment which is HW#1 for 2nd quarter.  It is due this Friday, November 2nd.  Click HERE to check it out.  In order to complete this assignment, you will have to watch your group perform their Tinikling routines.  You can use your period specific password to view your performance video HERE.  

ARE THERE ANY ASSIGNMENTS DUE THIS WEEK

Yes, HW #1 for 2nd Quarter is due on Friday, 11/2.  Please get it done.  You may turn it in early at Roll Call.

EXTRA CREDIT ASSIGNMENTS

I have an extra credit page that has various types of assignments that you can choose from.  These assignments change all the time.  To check out the Extra Credit Page, click HERE.  Reminder, I WILL NOT accept any extra credit if you have not completed all mandatory assignments in class (runs, written work, fitness days, unit stuff, etc.)

ARTICLE OF THE WEEK (AOW)

Although this is not an Article of the Week, KidsHealth is doing this fun Halloween Candy Game that you can play to see how many calories are in the special treats that you will be getting when you go door to door on Wednesday AND all the treats you will be getting from your friends throughout the week.  This is fun.  Try it out.  Enjoy and let me know what you think.  Remember, there are extra credit assignments related to the AOW's.
