Week of 12/2/13-12/6/13 (2nd Quarter- Week 7)

6th Graders,

I hope that all of you had a great week off.  I was lucky enough to have spent a lot of time with family and close friends.  I needed the week off, but, I am ready to get back at it and have a great week.  Read below for key updates.....        

BLOG FORM
This is a quick reminder to please fill out the form at the end of this blog after you finish reading it.  Not filling out the form will lead to a loss of participation points.

WEEKEND PUSH-UP CHALLENGE
How many of you completed 25 or more push-ups to match your weekly total?  If you haven't yet, get down and do them.  Don't cheat your body. I am so proud of how many of you have been doing this challenge.  It is going to benefit you significantly.

WEATHER
It is getting a lot colder this week.  I mean freezing cold.  Wear sweats and sweatshirts.  Also, looks like it may rain on Tuesday.  Dress appropriately. Please check weekly weather HERE
WHAT UNIT ARE WE IN?
We are in a 3 week unit. I am planning on continuing with Lacrosse skills. There are still quite a few skills left to cover and hopefully at the end we can play in a little Lacrosse tournament.   

WHAT IS OUR RUN THIS WEEK?
You will have Partner Mile #2 this Wed/Thurs.  If you can't remember what it it is, click HERE.

RUNNING CLUB STARTING SOON!!!
Running Club is this Thursday at Lunch.  Don't miss out.  Rack up miles and get some bragging rights.  Also, if you need to make up any runs, this is a good opportunity.  Meet by the Track Shed out the by the Track.  I recommend that you don't eat a big lunch and have some snacks to eat before and afterwards.  Let's do this.
WHAT FITNESS ACTIVITY ARE WE DOING THIS WEEK?
Not sure what we will be doing yet.  I am hoping to get a fitness activity in on  Friday. There is a chance that I may have a run and fitness day on the block periods.  

IS HOMEWORK ASSIGNED THIS WEEK?
No, no homework is assigned this week.  You will be having another PE 101 screen cast assignment when you get back from the Holiday Break.  

ARE THERE ANY ASSIGNMENTS DUE THIS WEEK
No, nothing is due this week.

FIT IN 15 HOME WORKOUT VIDEO SERIES
I am putting a lot of effort into making a new series of 15 minute Home Workout Videos called "Fit In 15."  They are perfect to use when you have a busy schedule and/or want to cross train for another sport.   Please subscribe to my YouTube channel and look for the newest Fit In 15 videos to be posted.  To see the latest Fit In 15, watch the video below.

Extra Credit:  There is a Fit In 15 Extra Credit Assignment posted on the Extra Credit page under "Little" Assignments.  Click HERE to check out the assignment.  Fill out this sheet and you will get extra credit.  Make sure that you have this sheet with you while you are doing the Fit In 15 workout b/c you have to keep track of your reps.

ARTICLE OF THE WEEK (AOW)
We are getting very close to the Flu Season.  It is important that you know some tips to take care of yourself.  The flu can be nasty and keep you out of school for a while.  Read this ARTICLE on the flu for some good advice and pointers.

We are not going to do Word of the Weeks this semester.  I am hoping to do this in the second semester.
