Week of 10/21/13-10/25/13 (2nd Quarter -Week 1)

6th Graders,

Sorry about not posting an official Blog last week.  I did my 7.5 mile run yesterday so that I would have some time to write this blog this morning. By the way, I am running so much because I am training for the Berkeley Half Marathon (13.1 miles) coming up in November.  I am super excited.  It has been a few years since I have run in a race.

WEEKEND PUSH-UP CHALLENGE
I am so proud of how many of you have been doing this challenge.  It is going to benefit you significantly.  

How many of you completed 25 or more push-ups to match your weekly total?  If you haven't yet, get down and do them.  Don't cheat your body.

WHAT UNIT ARE WE IN?
This is your final week of Jump Rope.  You will have Monday and Tuesday to practice your routines (you will also have brunch, I will be in the gym) and then you will be assessed on Wed/Thurs during the entire Block Period.  Good luck!!! 

Next week, we start a brand new, never done before unit at Cupertino Middle with the other 6th grade classes called, Field Games.  I am not sure what this is going to be all about, but, as we plan it, I will let you know.

By the way, if you want to watch last year's Jump Rope All Star Performances, just use sick fit_jumprope as the password.  These might give you some ideas about adding a few more tricks to your routines.

WHAT IS OUR RUN THIS WEEK?

RUNNING CLUB STARTING SOON!!!
I am starting a lunch time running/conditioning program at lunch in a couple of weeks.  This is going to be a great club to improve your overall run times, improve your overall fitness level and/or be a better athlete in any of the sports that you may participate in.  It will be on the morning announcements when I have a meeting for this club.  Please think about coming out for this!!!

WHAT FITNESS ACTIVITY ARE WE DOING THIS WEEK?
You WILL NOT have a run this week.  

IS HOMEWORK ASSIGNED THIS WEEK?
No, there is no homework assigned this week.

ARE THERE ANY ASSIGNMENTS DUE THIS WEEK
Yes, your Performance Templates need to be filled out and handed in before your performance.  To download your template, click HERE.  Make sure that you print out the correct one based on what and/or your group has decided about your level.  Yes, you need to turn in your Muscle Quiz Make Up Assignment on Monday (see below).

MUSCLE QUIZ MAKE UP ASSIGNMENT
I handed back your muscle quizzes on Friday.  If you want to "Upgrade" your muscle quiz to a 100%, you need to complete the Muscle Quiz Make Up assignment.  Click HERE to find it.  It is in the make up assignments box.  Turn this in on Monday.  

EXTRA CREDIT ASSIGNMENTS
