Week of 3/11/13 - 3/15/13 (3rd Quarter -Week 7)


6th Graders,

Track & Field continues.  What are you doing this week, click this  CALENDAR to find out.  It is your responsibility to be prepared.

WHAT UNIT ARE WE IN?
Tomorrow, we start Track and Field, specifically, Long Jump.  If you want to know which events you will be doing on what days, you need to go to your Google Calendar.  I really want you to poke around the Track and Field page to see what the unit is all about.  It is a fantastic unit and had a wide array of different events.  These are the same events that we have for our After School Sports Track and Field program as well.  

This week we have High Jump and Shot Put.  These are 3 pretty cool events.  Please do a little research on these before class tomorrow.  Click on the links below:

WHAT IS OUR RUN THIS WEEK?
I will be out on Thursday and Friday this week, so I am not sure what run you will be doing.  More than likely a run on Wed/Thurs for half of the Block Period.

Not sure yet.   

IS HOMEWORK ASSIGNED THIS WEEK?
Yes, I am going to announce that your WOW paragraph will be due on Tuesday, March 19th at roll call.

ARE THERE ANY ASSIGNMENTS DUE THIS WEEK
No, nothing is due this week.

EXTRA CREDIT ASSIGNMENTS
For any extra credit assignments that you would like to do, please go to the extra credit page.  There are little, medium and large assignments that you can choose from.

FIT IN 15 HOME WORKOUT VIDEO SERIES
I just started producing new workout videos called, "Fit In 15" which are 15 minute bodyweight, home workout videos.  I am excited b/c these videos will have creative exercises and the workouts don't take very long.  Please subscribe to my YouTube channel and look for the newest Fit In 15 videos to be posted.  I am uploading Fit In 15 #2 to my YouTube site sometime today.  Please Subscribe and do these workouts at home.

Extra Credit:  Do one of these Fit In 15 workouts.  While you are working out, keep track of the # of reps you do for each of the exercises.  Afterwards, do a one page write up explaining the following:
What were the names of the exercises?
How many reps did you do each round for the exercises?
What Level did you choose (1, 2 or 3)?
Where did you do the workout?  Living room, bedroom, garage, park, etc.?
Short paragraph explaining how the workout was for you?  difficulty, hardest exercise, easiest exercise, if you modified and why, etc.?

ARTICLE OF THE WEEK (AOW)
The focus this quarter is on Nutrition because I am preparing you for your big Nutrition Project coming up 4th quarter.  This article focuses on how to prepare a healthy lunch for school.  Read it and let me know what you think in an extra credit assignment.

YOUR WORD OF THE WEEK (WOW)
WOW #6, your final word of the quarter, was posted.  All of your WOW words are going to be focused on Nutrition.  A big theme this quarter.  Check out your WOW HERE.  You will choose either 2nd quarters words or 3rd quarter's words and write ONE paragraph.

YOUR WOW paragraph will be due on Tuesday, March 19th.
