Week of 9/10/12-9/14/12 (1st Quarter -Week 4)

6th Graders,
Wow, this quarter is flying by fast.  Soon, it will be deficiency notice time (these are sent home informing your parents that you are slipping in class) which usually happens at the mid way point of the quarter.

WEEKLY RECAP &  WEEK AT A GLANCE
Last week we continued with Cooperative Activities and PE 101.  On Tuesday, we did a little talk on how to lead stretches and then did a Cooperative Class- Toxic River.  On Wednesday/Thursday we had our 2nd PE 101 lesson, Benefits of Exercise.  After that, we practiced 4 of our Bear Fitness Challenge activities.  On Friday, we did the Variety Run, a team run.  To check out what we did and what we have planned, go to your class CALENDAR.

WHAT IS OUR RUN THIS WEEK?

ARTICLE OF THE WEEK (AOW)
As you get through more of the quarter, some of you will be getting more homework.  Homework becomes a big deal in middle school and will even become more of a big deal in high school.  Here is a good article breaking down Homework.  Enjoy.

HOME WORKOUT OF THE WEEK
I am really big on home workouts.  Home workouts are so efficient and effective.  As we learn more exercises throughout the year, I will put together short home workouts I recommend you try at home.  Here is your first one:

Do each exercise for 40 seconds and take a 40 second rest for 3 rounds (means do this rotation 3 times):
1.  Burpees
2.  Squats
3.  Mountain Climbers
4.  Push-Ups

YOUR WORD OF THE WEEK (WOW)
WOW #1 was added.  To check it out, click HERE.  On Monday, I am going to ask the class what this word is, be prepared to answer.
