Week of 1/2/12-1/6/12 (2Q- Week 8)

6th Graders,

Happy New Year. Can you believe that I will not see you again until 2012. I hope that each and every one of you had a great 2 weeks and 1 day off. My break was fantastic. Luckily, I still have 3 more days. I did spend a few of the days getting some work done, particularly adding all the Tinikling videos. Anyway, I can't wait to see you on Tuesday, 1/2. I am refreshed, recharged and ready to go.

WEATHER

Looking like we will be rain free again the week we get back. Mid 60's to mid 50's, definitely the type of weather you should have sweats and jackets- check the weekly weather HERE.

MILE & 2 MILE MAKE-UP RUN

I will have a make-up run on Friday, 1/20, the last day of the quarter. You will need to attend this make up if you want extra credit or a make-up grade applied to the 2nd quarter.

WHAT UNIT ARE WE IN?

For the next 3 weeks, we will not really be in a unit. The second week you get back is the Bear Fitness Challenge, your second one of the year. We will be spending this week preparing for the Bear Fitness Challenge as well as revisiting some PE 101 stuff. The final week of the quarter, you will have a stretching/muscle lesson.

WHAT UNIT IS COMING UP NEXT?

On the first day of the new quarter, 1/23, you will be starting one of the best units of the year, Line Dance. I added a link on my website about Line Dance, including videos for each of the dances that you will be responsible for learning. I HIGHLY recommend you start watching the videos and practicing. Most of the dances are pretty easy to learn. Click HERE to check out the Line Dance Page.

WHAT IS OUR RUN THIS WEEK?

WHAT FITNESS ACTIVITY ARE WE DOING THIS WEEK?

Our fitness day is in the gym. Not sure what you will be doing yet.

IS HOMEWORK ASSIGNED THIS WEEK?

Yes, there are quite a few assignments assigned this week:

-HW #4 is a Tinikling Reflection Assignment that is due on Wednesday, 1/11.

-HW #5 is requiring that you go and watch the Bear Challenge Videos and practice each of the Bear Challenge Activities to prepare for the start of the Bear Challenge on Monday, 1/9.

-WOW Assignment #2 is due on Friday.
