Week of 12/12/11-12/16/11 (2Q- Week 7)

6th Graders,

This is the 7th week of the quarter meaning that there are only 3 weeks left (all 3 when you get back from your Holiday Break). Don't forget to read through the entire Blog.

MILE & 2 MILE MAKE-UP RUN

I will have a make-up run as part of my Running Club on Friday, December 16th @ 3:00pm.

WHAT UNIT ARE WE IN?

This week wraps up the Tinikling Unit. In fact, there are only 2 days left- Monday and Tuesday which are testing days. Do not forget to print out the Peer Assessment Sheets (HW #3- see below) because you need them for the testing. Also, if you want to see what the rubric looks like for your test, click HERE and print out handout #2.

WHAT UNIT IS COMING UP NEXT?

We will have another Manipulative Skills Unit- either Foot Dribbling or Over and Underhand Throwing. What is a Manipulative Skill?

WHAT IS OUR RUN THIS WEEK?

You will NOT have a run this week, instead, I am going to have a Fitness Day on Wednesday. Thursday will be a surprise.

WHAT FITNESS ACTIVITY ARE WE DOING THIS WEEK?

You will have an outdoor fitness circuit on Wednesday.

IS HOMEWORK ASSIGNED THIS WEEK?

Yes, HW #3 is due on Monday, 12/12. To see what the assignment is, click HERE. Bring these printouts to class tomorrow, you will need them for the Tinikling Dance Tests.

EXTRA CREDIT ASSIGNMENTS

Research a F0lk Dance from your cultural/ethnic/religious background and write a short paper (between a half page and full page). Be sure to include the following in your paper:

-Name, Period and Roll Call

-The name of the dance

-Some history of the dance

-Basics on how to do the dance

-Whether you have ever performed it or not

-Any other interesting facts you find about the dance

*You will receive between 5-10 points on this assignment depending on how well written, detailed and interesting it is.
