6th Graders,
Wow, week 2 already. Can't believe it. I loved all of your halloween costumes on Friday and hoped you enjoyed a day with your friends and just hanging out. We have a big week coming up with new stuff so please read through this Blog.

WHAT UNIT ARE WE IN?
We are back in Manipulative Skills, specifically, hand dribbling a basketball. I am scheduled for the upper blacktop for a few weeks, so our goal is to learn and practice basketball dribbling. Many of you know proper dribbling skills so this will be practice, for others, this will be a brand new concept for you. Please be ready.
WHAT ARE THE NEW GRADING CATEGORIES FOR 2Q?
Next quarter, you will be graded according to various categories. There are 12 separate categories that will make up 100% of your 2Q grade. If you have any questions regarding these categories, feel free to ask. These categories may change at any time as well. If they do, I will make sure that I let you know. Check them out HERE.
WHAT UNIT IS COMING UP NEXT?
We will be continuing with Manipulative Skills, specifically, overhand throwing.
WHAT IS OUR RUN THIS WEEK?
This week is the Pedometer Run. Your goal is to produce as many steps in 20 minutes as possible.
WHAT FITNESS ACTIVITY ARE WE DOING THIS WEEK?
You will be in the gym this week for Fitness Day on Friday. I am still undecided on what we will do as our fitness day.
DID YOU FILL OUT YOUR E-RUN LOG?
We did not have a run last week, therefore, you do not need to fill out an e-Run Log. Please fill out the e-Mile log from the previous week. It appears as though many of you still need to fill it out. This grade will be applied to your 2nd quarter grades.
IS HOMEWORK ASSIGNED THIS WEEK?
Yes, HW #1 was assigned. It is a Tinikling Reflection assignment. You can find this assignment posted on your 6th Grade HW page. This assignment is due on Monday, 11/8 at roll call. This assignments requires that you watch yourself perform your Tinikling Dance. You can find all the videos by clicking HERE.
VOTE FOR YOUR FAVORITE TINIKLING ALL STAR ROUTINE
On the Tinikling Video page, I posted what I thought were the top 8 All Star dances in all 3 of my classes. Take about 10 minutes to watch all of them and then cast your vote for your favorite performance. I am curious to see what you come up with.
RUNNING CLUB STARTS ON TUESDAY MORNING
For those of you that attended the meeting or even didn't attend and want to participate in Running Club, our first meeting of the year is Tuesday at 6:45am. Get there a bit early, 6:30ish, so that I can get your set up. Hope to see you there.
ARE THERE ANY ASSIGNMENTS DUE THIS WEEK?
Yes, you need to fill out your e-Mile Run Log by the end of this week.
I have an Extra Credit Page that always has different types of Extra Credit assignments you can choose from. I would love some Fitness Mixes. Make me some good CD's to use on your Run and Fitness Days. Read about the assignment guidelines on the extra credit page.
ARTICLE OF THE WEEK (AOW)
With students using Facebook, Twitter, Youtube and other social networking sites, Cyberbullying is becoming a major problem. I have been hearing about it happening at our school and if you read the papers and listen to the news, it is becoming a MAJOR widespread problem across the country. The great thing about Cyberbullying is that you have complete control over whether it happens or not. Read this article about Cyberbullying. I plan to post more AOW's relating to this in the future. Remember, there is an Extra Credit assignment you can do for every AOW which can be found on the Extra Credit Page.
LAST MINUTE REMINDERS

You have a new W.O.W. for the 2nd Quarter. Go the WOW page and look at the work. I have a new assignment for your WOW words at the end of the quarter. In addition to your WOW template, you will be required to use all words in a well-written, grammatically correct paragraph. The WOW assignment is posted on the WOW page.
