Week of 10/22/10-10/29/10 (2Q- Week 1)

6th Graders,

I hope that you are enjoying a nice 3 day weekend. Unfortunately the weather is not nicer, but, nevertheless, take the time to rest and get ready for a fresh start with quarter 2. I can't believe that 10 weeks of school have just come and gone in the blink of an eye.

WEEK AT A GLANCE
Check out your Google Calendar to see what is going on this week.
WHAT UNIT ARE WE IN?
You are going to finish Tinikling this week. Testing will be on Tuesday and Thursday. You can volunteer or I will randomly select students to test. I highly recommend that you watch this video (password is sickfit) before testing. Check out the dances at the end, that is how good your performance needs to be.

WHAT UNIT IS COMING UP NEXT?
Your next unit will be a combination of Hand Dribbling (on the blacktop) and Overhand/Underhand Throwing on the grass fields. I am looking forward to these two manipulative skills. Remember, review your Manipulative Skills page for more information.

WHAT IS OUR RUN THIS WEEK?
We will be doing a brand new team run called "Variety Run". To read about it, click HERE.

WHAT FITNESS ACTIVITY ARE WE DOING THIS WEEK?
We will be in the Rock Wall to continue the 2nd day of the Rock Wall Circuit that we did a few weeks back. Try and remember which station you left off. I want to make sure that you make it through each station in the circuit.

DID YOU FILL OUT YOUR E-RUN LOG?
Yes, you need to fill out a mile run log. I have made the log way more simple. Please take a few minutes and fill it out.

IS HOMEWORK ASSIGNED THIS WEEK?
No, no homework is assigned this week.

ARE THERE ANY ASSIGNMENTS DUE THIS WEEK?
Nothing is due this week.

I have an Extra Credit Page that always has different types of Extra Credit assignments you can choose from. I would love some Fitness Mixes. Make me some good CD's to use on your Run and Fitness Days. Read about the assignment guidelines on the extra credit page.

ARTICLE OF THE WEEK (AOW)
It is always interesting to read articles about the effects of foods. I found this article that talks about food that may help to prevent colds and the flu. Read it and see what you think. Remember, there is an Extra Credit assignment you can do for every AOW which can be found on the Extra Credit Page.

LAST MINUTE REMINDERS
-Prepare for you Tinikling tests on Tuesday and Thursday.
-Enjoy your long weekend.

YOUR WORD OF THE WEEK (WOW)

Your 1st Word of the Week for the 2nd quarter will be next week. You NO NOT have one this week.
