Week of 9/13/10-9/17/10 (1Q- Week 5)

6th Graders,

Week 5 already, flying by. Anyway, you have another 4 day week this week. Please read through the entire Blog.
WEEK AT A GLANCE

WHAT UNIT ARE WE IN?
We are still in PE 101 and Cooperative Games/Activities.

WHAT UNIT IS COMING UP NEXT?
We will be starting a unit called Manipulative Skills on 9/20, which involves a lot of different types of skill development. You can read about Manipulative Skills HERE. DO NOT PRINT ANYTHING OUT FROM THIS PAGE. I WILL PROVIDE ALL HANDOUTS FOR MANIPULATIVE SKILLS.

WHAT IS OUR RUN THIS WEEK?
We have the 2 Mile Run this week. I am not sure if it will be on Wednesday or Thursday, so please be prepared for either day. Sleep well and eat well the nights before.

WHAT FITNESS ACTIVITY ARE WE DOING THIS WEEK?
We will continue with Fitness Testing this week. On Monday, you will be doing the "Perfect Push-Up" lesson. Please watch me perform push-ups on the Fitness Testing Page and practice at home. Have someone watch you and correct your form.

DID YOU FILL OUT YOUR E-RUN LOG?
You need to fill out the e-Pedometer Run Log for last week's Pedometer run. It is due by end of day on Tuesday. If you have any issues with filling out this log, PLEASE COME SEE ME AND WE CAN LOG IT ON MY COMPUTER IN MY OFFICE.

IS HOMEWORK ASSIGNED THIS WEEK?
Yes, I added one assignment, HW #11 which is to complete your Sportsmanship Education PE 101 Worksheet (pages 5 and 6) that we did in class. Most of you finished all the questions. Look at the Homework Page for the due date.

ARE THERE ANY ASSIGNMENTS DUE THIS WEEK?
Yes, HW #10 (Muscle Circuit Notes) and HW #11 (Sportsmanship Education Worksheet). Turn these in at roll call on the day they are due. PLEASE DO NOT LEAVE THESE ASSIGNMENTS IN YOUR BACKPACK ON THE DAY THEY ARE DUE, BRING THEM TO CLASS.

I have an Extra Credit Page that always has different types of Extra Credit assignments you can choose from. I would love some Fitness Mixes. Make me some good CD's to use on your Run and Fitness Days. Read about the assignment guidelines on the extra credit page.

ARTICLE OF THE WEEK (AOW)
Check out this article on Walking, An Easy Way to Exercise. Fitness does not have to be tough. Remember, there is an Extra Credit assignment you can do for every AOW which can be found on the Extra Credit Page.

LAST MINUTE REMINDERS
-Finish your Stretch Circuit Notes and Sportsmanship Ed worksheets.
-Fill out your Pedometer Log
-Prepare for a 2 mile this week.
