Week of 8/17/09-8/21/09

Welcome to your first week of school.  This blog will be updated every Sunday with a summary of what is coming up the following week and key reminders from the previous week.  It is important to use this blog regularly to prepare for the upcoming week.  Also, posted in this weekly blog is your WOW, Word of the Week, that you will be responsible for completing the template found in your Sportfolio.  Hope you find the Weekly Blog helpful.

WHAT UNIT ARE WE IN?
We are going to start the year in Cooperative Games and PE 101.  Cooperative Games is a unit intended to build teamwork, trust, cooperation and sportsmanship.  We will do various Trust and Strategy activities to help build class chemistry.  PE 101 is a more academic curriculum where you will learn key Physical Education and Fitness concepts like sportsmanship, fitness components, training principles, Heart Rate analysis, etc. 

WHAT IS OUR RUN THIS WEEK?
Because this is a short week, we will not have an official run day.  Our official 1st run day is Wednesday, September 2nd.  It is the Variety Run, a good team building, group run.  Descriptions of all my runs can be found at this link.  

WHAT FITNESS ACTIVITY ARE WE DOING THIS WEEK?
We will have our first fitness activity on Friday, August 28th.  Not sure what it will be yet, but I will announce next week.

IS HOMEWORK ASSIGNED THIS WEEK?
Yes, there is a lot actually.  You need to read your Welcome Letter and complete all tasks.  The big task is setting up your Sportfolio.  Make sure you get all appropriate pages signed and ready to for next Thursday, August 27th.  Also, you have a Scavenger Hunt and Webquest assignment to complete for next week.

ARE THERE ANY ASSIGNMENTS DUE THIS WEEK?
There are not any assignments due this week.  Next week, 8/27, your assignments are due.
